Sling Blade

I was half doing homework while watching Sling Blade today. I couldn't resist. It was a lot different watching it now as opposed to when it came out 10 years ago. One part really caught my attention...
Karl Childers (Billy Bob Thornton) says to the mother and son's gay friend Vaughan Cunningham,

"I don't reckon you have to go with women to be a good daddy to a boy.
You been real square-dealin' with me. The Bible says two men ought not lay together.
But I don't reckon the Good Lord would send anybody like you to Hades."

I know it's just a story but it's amusing to me that someone who is mentally retarded has figured out that gay people aren't going to hell because of their sexuality but most of the world hasn't figured this out. Maybe they don't want to admit that something they are supposed to believe in is wrong. Maybe they feel like if they decide one part of the Bible is wrong, they will have to say it's all wrong.

To the people who think it is a choice: Why would someone choose to be something that everyone hates? That's just an idiotic theory.

And if there is a God, I don't think he would make people a certain way and then tell them to be something else. I also don't think God is the way humans have represent him. I don't think homosexuality is a perversion of the way things "should be," I think that people pervert what God would want of us. Why would God carve out a specific group to hate? Maybe it says we are not supposed to condemn others in the Bible but when it is specifically carved out the homosexuality is a sin, what do you think is going to happen?

Why does there always have to be someone to hate?
